The IPA began to develop a new local system due to the fact that there were difficulties in terms of the use of Arabized foreign systems, lack of technical support, high cost of annual maintenance and failure of covering all library tasks. In 1427H., the IPA started designing the system which was completed in mid 1429H. The new system was named “NAMA“. When designing this system, it was taken into ac-count that it must be compatible with the international technical stan-dards, contain all requirements and needs of the IPA libraries, and be easy to use by Library staff and end-users, be linked with the IPA computer programs and launched on the Internet.
